Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria in the gut microbiome such as Enterococcus Faecium. Prebiotics are the fibres such as galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) and Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) that provide nourishment to help maintain probiotic levels. The beneficial bacteria in the gut are essential for optimal health because they aid digestion, support the immune system, produce 90% of the body’s serotonin, produce Vitamin K and B Vitamins, crowd out harmful bacteria, and produce short-chain fatty acids such as Butyrate and produce enzymes.
The bentonite clay mops up intestinal toxins and water, thus helping with diarrhoea and poisoning. Bentonite clay is added as a binding agent to firm up faeces. The clay compound has been used as a natural treatment for diarrhoea for many years. According to the NCBI, a 1961 study showed that orally administered bentonite treated 97% of diarrhoea cases with multiple causes.
Research has shown how the gut and brain are connected and it is referred to as the gut brain axis. What happens in the gut has been shown to have a positive or negative effect on the brain of dogs and people.Dog behavioural problems like anxiety and aggression can have many causes and an out-of-balanced gut microbiome may be one of them. There have been plenty of studies done on how the food in children affects their behaviour, this includes sugars and refined carbs that create over aroused cranky children. Yet when it comes to dogs the commercially processed food that we feed them plays a role in the gut microbiome, it is one of the most overlooked topics related to behavioural problems in dogs. The gut microbiome has links to areas of the brain that affect mood behaviour, this also could potentially include responses to fear, anxiety, aggression, hyperactivity, obsessive-compulsive disorders, self-mutilation, and separation anxiety. Adding our Holistic Doggie fibre daily to your dog’s food can really help by balancing your dog’s microbiome which has been shown to improve behavioural problems in dogs via the Gut-Brain Axis. We also recommend looking into a good diet for dogs such as a raw food diet
A healthy gut microbiome promotes optimal long term health because it increases the immune system, produces seratonin to help calm an anxious dog through the Gut-Brain Axis, produces vital vitamins and minerals, and the probiotics crowd out harmful bacteria,

I have given probiotics to my dogs many times, both after any medication but also maintenance, but this product is without doubt The Best product that I have ever used for gut health for my dogs. My new dog, who is a rescue and only 3 years old, was recently back and forth to the vets with a nasty bout of gastroenteritis. Despite medications including antibiotics and probiotics he was still “not right”, very lethargic, poor appetite and his stools not as they should be for a raw fed young dog. I am so grateful to have found JP Holistic Nutrition and spoken with Dr Paul Boland, who took the time to listen to my concerns and recommended this product for my dog and why the additional ingredients, including bentonite clay would be beneficial for my boy. The positive change in my boy within 2 days was remarkable, he was much more energetic, had healthy stools, his eyes looked clearer, he was happier and was eating normally again. This product has made a huge difference to the health and overall wellbeing of my dog, and having seen how poorly my dog was and the huge improvement after taking this product, not only will I continue to use it, I have already recommended this to numerous people already. Buy it, your dog will thank you for it, and you will save yourself a whole load of money and heartache.

Causing itching skin and scabs etc ) now the vets won’t admit this but I know there is a connection! Anyway this product I was told acts as probiotics as well. She has only been on for a week but has been a definite increase of stools more solid. Which is great so really happy. I will write another review in time
To say if skin has improved but Iv put on antihistamine to help that problem! All this has come from antibiotics, like
Humans it does destroy the immune system, especially for west highland terriers! I will be looking into the rest of the products they produce. Thank you.
